After the game appeared over, referees put more time on the clock and DeSoto's
Samari Collier connected with
Lawrence Arnold for a touchdown to close to 28-27 with two seconds left.
DeSoto went for the win, but Collier's two-point conversion pass fell incomplete as ninth-ranked Cedar Hill escaped with a 28-27 home victory in a thrilling way to end the regular season.
Both teams are 8-2 and move on to the playoffs, Cedar Hill versus Pearce (Richardson) and DeSota against Skyline (Dallas).
Kaidon Salter scored the go-ahead touchdown for Cedar Hill on a 2-yard rushing touchdown on fourth-and-goal with five minutes remaining.
After stopping the two-point conversion, Cedar Hill, which earlier got rushing touchdowns from
Corie Allen and
Kevin Young, secured its eighth straight victory. Salter accounted for 115 yards and three touchdowns including a 31-yard TD pass to
Quinshone Bright.
Collier was superb throughout, connecting on 17-of-30 passes for 304 yards and three touchdowns. Arnold had seven catches for 160 yards and two scores.
In other action of note, No. 5 Allen won its 75th straight regular-season game with a 34-10 win over Plano West, fourth-ranked Martin defeated No. 22 Bowie 44-19 and No. 25 Marcus escaped with a 48-42 win over Lewisville.
