Football Game Preview: Archbishop McCarthy Mavericks vs. Hialeah Thoroughbreds + Official Tickets

After both having extra time off, the Archbishop McCarthy Mavericks and the Hialeah Thoroughbreds will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Archbishop McCarthy barely beat King's Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mavericks breezed past the Lions to the tune of 48-7 last Friday. The victory was familiar territory for the Mavericks, who have now won three contests in a row.

Robert Kerns went supernova, throwing for 141 yards and five touchdowns. That's the most passing touchdowns he has posted since back in August of 2024. Damien Grant helped Kerns out on the ground, rushing for 95 yards on only 11 carries.

Meanwhile, while Hialeah put up plenty of points back in October, the same can't be said for Miami Springs. The Thoroughbreds blew past the Golden Hawks 38-0. The Thoroughbreds haven't had any issues with the Golden Hawks recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Hialeah's defense and their seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Terrell Evans and Devin King, who racked up five sacks between them. Evans has been hot, having posted at least one sack the last five times he's played.

Archbishop McCarthy's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Hialeah, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.
