Volleyball Recap: Athens Comes Up Short

Athens was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Mildred Eagles, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 on Friday.

While Athens was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Mildred's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-20, 25-23.

Athens now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Mildred, their victory ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 7-2.

Coming up, Athens will take on Mineola at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mildred, they will face off against Bonham at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
