Baseball Recap: Lakewood Ranch Takes a Loss

The Lakewood Ranch Mustangs lost 8-2 to the Tarpon Springs Spongers on Tuesday. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lakewood Ranch got a good showing from Chase Skarbek, who tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Lakewood Ranch saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Sprague, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Sprague is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's stole at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Luis Flores also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Lakewood Ranch's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Tarpon Springs, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Looking ahead, Lakewood Ranch will venture away from home to take on Braden River at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Tarpon Springs, they will host Palm Harbor University at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Tarpon Springs is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.3 runs per game this season.
