Basketball Game Preview: Thornridge Falcons vs. Thornton Wildcats

Thornridge is 0-10 against Thornton since January of 2020 but things could change on Tuesday. The Thornridge Falcons are taking a road trip to challenge the Thornton Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Thornridge is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Friday. They took a 57-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Crete-Monee. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 486th, while the Warriors are ranked 108th).

Meanwhile, Thornton was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 48-43 to Kankakee. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Thornton saw an underclassman step up: freshman Deandre Higgs posted 16 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremy Blanco-Rios, who earned four points and three steals.

Thornton's loss dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Thornridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.

Thornridge came up short against Thornton when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 62-53. Can Thornridge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
