Softball Recap: Beloit Memorial Purple Knights vs. Union Grove Broncos
Beloit Memorial extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 6-14 in the process. They came up short against the Union Grove Broncos, falling 12-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Broncos this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-3 on Tuesday.
Beloit Memorial saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jasmine Smith, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
As for Union Grove, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.
On Union Grove's side, Ciara Hage looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Emma Santarelli was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Katie Madrigal was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Looking ahead, Beloit Memorial is taking a road trip to challenge Westosha Central at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Union Grove, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mishicot at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
