Softball Recap: Toppenish Takes a Loss

Toppenish had lost seven straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 4-13 to make it eight. They lost 10-0 to the Grandview Greyhounds. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Wildcats' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Tayen Grover was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and one stolen base.

As for Grandview, with the win, they broke their eight-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-10-2. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

On Grandview's side, Marliese Padgham was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Padgham was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Aileen Ledesma was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Sofia Tovar was another key player, going 1-for-2 with five stolen bases and two runs.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Grandview beat Toppenish by a score of 6-0 later that day.
