Spring Valley hadn't done well against Glenwood City recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Cardinals had just enough and edged out the Hilltoppers 8-6. This was a revenge game for the Cardinals: when they faced off against the Hilltoppers last Tuesday, they had to take a 12-11 loss.

Megan Harvey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Elin Esanbock was a standout: she went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate Cipriano, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Spring Valley now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Glenwood City, they dropped their record down to 2-16 with the defeat, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Spring Valley will challenge rival Boyceville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Glenwood City is set to face off against their familiar foe Elmwood/Plum City at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
