Baseball Recap: Baylor Falls to Walker Valley in First Game of Season

Baylor unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Walker Valley Mustangs by a score of 11-10 on Tuesday. The Red Raiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

Jack Schuman was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Chris Renegar was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Walker Valley and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0.

Coming up, Baylor will take on Boyd-Buchanan at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Walker Valley, they will square off against Notre Dame at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
