League recap: Downs' hitting boosts Faith Baptist

Heritage league recap: 5/14/12

Michael Downs was on fire this week, as he led Heritage with a .500 average, two home runs and four RBIs. His Faith Baptist team went 0-3.

Josh Clark was the best pitcher in the league this week. His stat line for the week included one win and seven Ks.

Hillcrest Christian's pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing nine hits and six walks to lead the league in both categories. The Eagles have given up a mere 62 hits on the year in addition to compiling 133 strikeouts. Clark is the leader in that category with 60 Ks on the season.

The week's strikeout crown belonged to Johnathon Rasmussen, who turned in 29 Ks for the Contenders. He's fourth in the league with 50 total strikeouts.

Hillcrest Christian's Tanner Marcoe finished his week with six hits, tops in the league. He is fourth in the league with 23 hits this year, and has a .397 batting average.
