Volleyball Recap: Boonville Pioneers vs. Southridge Raiders
After flying high against South Spencer on Wednesday, Boonville came back down to earth. The Pioneers came up short against the Southridge Raiders on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Pioneers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.
While Boonville ultimately came up short, they really made Southridge work, particularly in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 29-27, 25-22, 25-17.
Boonville's offense was headlined by Jenna Luff and Taylor Johnson, who picked up eight kills apiece. They got some help from Marissa Ward and her ten assists. Luff was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.
Boonville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Southridge, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-5.
Boonville has already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Mt. Vernon on the 2nd. As for Southridge, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 loss against Perry Central on the 30th.
