The Christian Academy of Greater St. Louis Crusaders will face off against Crosspoint Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Christian Academy of Greater St. Louis is looking for their season's first victory.
Last Tuesday, Christian Academy of Greater St. Louis came up short against St. Louis Christian HomeSchool and fell 5-2.
Kaleb Hardy was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero). He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season.
Hardy wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Isaiah Weiss, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. That hit was Weiss' first of the season.
Meanwhile, Crosspoint Christian made easy work of Central Missouri HomeSchool on Saturday and carried off a 16-5 win.
Like Christian Academy of Greater St. Louis, Crosspoint Christian also got a great game from a two-way player: Payton Lauth. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Lauth has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Crosspoint Christian got a massive performance out of Vincent Wieberg, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. What's more, Wieberg posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Gus Bradley was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.
Christian Academy of Greater St. Louis' defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Crosspoint Christian, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Christian Academy of Greater St. Louis has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Crosspoint Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.7 strikeouts.
