Baseball Recap: Seton Catholic Picks Up Seventh Straight Win on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Nogales, Seton Catholic was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They never let the Florence Gophers get on the board and left with a 3-0 win.

The result came thanks to Brady Stephenson's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent over his last six matchups.

On the hitting side, Seton Catholic's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Josh Brown, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Another was Nathan Mulligan, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Seton Catholic's win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Florence, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Seton Catholic will challenge St. Mary's at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Florence, they will face off against Apache Junction at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Florence's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Apache Junction's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
