Basketball Recap: Palm Beach Central Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Xavian Charles and Roobens Jabouin

Palm Beach Central was the 48-47 winner over Royal Palm Beach when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Palm Beach Central Broncos received a blow on Friday as they fell 49-31 to the Royal Palm Beach Wildcats. The contest marked the Broncos' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Roobens Jabouin and Xavian Charles certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Jabouin went 5 for 11 en route to 10 points in addition to five rebounds and four blocks, while Charles went 5 of 12 on his way to 12 points. Those four blocks gave Jabouin a new career-high.

K'Nard Callendar was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 14 boards for Royal Palm Beach. Callendar is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Bennie Murvin was another key player, putting up seven points and nine rebounds.

With the defeat, Palm Beach Central broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-5. As for Royal Palm Beach, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-8.

Palm Beach Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 47-39 win against Vero Beach on the 27th. As for Royal Palm Beach, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 69-39 victory against Donna Klein Jewish Academy on the 28th.
