Football Recap: Eastmark Firebirds vs. Saguaro Sabercats

Eastmark won against Palo Verde last Tuesday with 35 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Monday. The Eastmark Firebirds breezed by the Saguaro Sabercats to the tune of 35-0. That's two games straight that the Firebirds have won by exactly 35 points.

Eastmark was led to victory by Kinsley McCarty and Paige McCrabb. McCarty picked up 207 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while McCrabb threw for 332 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per attempt. McCarty also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making three total tackles and defending a pass in addition to snagging two interceptions. Mikaela Oberstein did her part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 81 receiving yards.

Eastmark didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off six passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Oberstein and McCarty.

Eastmark's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4-1. As for Saguaro, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

Eastmark will take on Benjamin Franklin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both have allowed few points on average, (Eastmark: 7.8, Benjamin Franklin: 10.5) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Saguaro, they will face off against Nogales at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Nogales will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Saguaro surely won't give up without a fight.
