Basketball Recap: Upstate Comes Up Short

Upstate played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the St. Joseph's Catholic Knights and fell 63-25. The loss put an end to the Falcons' undefeated start to the season.

Annie Hendley was Upstate's leading scorer, having posted eight points. Hendley also led the team in rebounds with four.

Leading St. Joseph's Catholic to victory were Evie Adams and Tiffany Helmer. Adams went 9-for-15 on her way to 22 points, while Helmer shot 45% from the field en route to 16 points and four steals. The matchup was Adams' third in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Eliza Carter, who posted nine points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Upstate fell to 2-1. As for St. Joseph's Catholic, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-2.

Coming up, Upstate will venture away from home to take on New Covenant School at 6:30 p.m. on the 12th. As for St. Joseph's Catholic, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 60-40 victory against Seneca on the 4th.
