Basketball Recap: El Paso Comes Up Short

El Paso saw some tournament action on Saturday. They took a 64-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Oklahoma City S Storm. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 491st in Texas, while the Storm are ranked 189th in Oklahoma).

Isreal Fugett had a dynamite game for Oklahoma City S, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 12 boards. Those 12 boards gave Fugett a new career-high. Adam Leonard was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for El Paso and nudges their season record down to 11-9. As for Oklahoma City S, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. El Paso will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on San Elizario at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Oklahoma City S, they will take on Memorial at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
