Basketball Recap: Jada Smith's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Grandview over Smithville

Grandview was the 50-34 winner over Smithville when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Grandview Bulldogs fell to the Smithville Warriors 45-40. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Grandview's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jada Smith, who posted 20 points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Lariah Tucker, who earned 13 points.

Grandview's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 10-8. As for Smithville, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-6.

Grandview wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 61-17 win against Excelsior Springs on the 14th. Smithville has also already played their next game (against Winnetonka), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
