Baseball Game Preview: Seattle Academy Cardinals vs. Roosevelt Roughriders

The Seattle Academy Cardinals will venture away from home to take on the Roosevelt Roughriders at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Seattle Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

Seattle Academy proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by 35) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Nathan Hale 8-6.

Cole Becker was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, Dashiell Story was excellent, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Seattle Academy is undefeated when Story posts two or more runs, but 4-6 otherwise.

Seattle Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nathan Hale only posted an OBP of .353.

Meanwhile, Roosevelt made easy work of Cleveland on Friday and carried off an 11-1 win. The Roughriders haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Seattle Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Roosevelt, their record now sits at 6-7.
