Basketball Recap: Palmer Ridge Comes Up Short

Palmer Ridge lost against Mesa Ridge back in January of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Palmer Ridge Bears took a 57-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mesa Ridge Grizzlies. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while the Grizzlies are ranked 23rd).

Despite the loss, Palmer Ridge still got an impressive performance from Logan Boyer, who went 6-for-10 on his way to 20 points and seven boards. The match was Boyer's third in a row with at least 19 points. Cohen Berry was another key player, putting up six points.

It was another big night for Zander Iwanski, who went 6-for-12 to rack up 19 points and five rebounds for Mesa Ridge. That's the most points Iwanski has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Riehl, who scored 12 points and eight boards.

Palmer Ridge now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Mesa Ridge, the victory was the 19th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-1.

Palmer Ridge didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-49 win against Falcon on the 17th. As for Mesa Ridge, they have also already played their next game, a 64-57 victory against Evergreen on the 17th.
