Volleyball Recap: Mount Mercy Academy Comes Up Short

Mount Mercy Academy lost against Nichols back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Magic fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 3-2. The Magic have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Mount Mercy Academy started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 23-25, 25-15, 25-23, 15-9.

Riley Coughlin paced Mount Mercy Academy's offense, picking up 12 kills. Coughlin got some help from Mara McCrea and her 20 assists. Rilynn Nicastro controlled things from the service line, finishing with eight aces.

Mount Mercy Academy's record is now 2-16. As for Nichols, the victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-5.

Coming up, Mount Mercy Academy will square off against St. Mary's at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Nichols, they will challenge Sacred Heart Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
