South Sumter took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Wesley Chapel, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. South Sumter skirted past Wesley Chapel 7-5. Winning may never get old, but the Raiders sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.

The team relied heavily on Malakhi Boone, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ismael Rodriguez, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.

South Sumter pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Wesley Chapel, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-6.

Coming up, South Sumter will challenge Nature Coast Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wesley Chapel, they will host Gaither at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
