Basketball Recap: Sierra Grande Panthers vs. Moffat Cowboys
You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the Sierra Grande Panthers's strategy against the Moffat Cowboys on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Sierra Grande blew the Cowboys out of the water with a 45-11 final score. With Sierra Grande ahead 26-3 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sierra Grande to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaylyn Quezada, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 steals. Quezada has been hot recently, having posted five or more steals the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexia Gonzalez, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for Sierra Grande and bumps their season record up to 5-9. As for Moffat, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.
Sierra Grande will be playing at home against the Thunderbirds at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Moffat, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the at 3:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Lake City is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
