Baseball Recap: Blissfield Comes Up Short

Blissfield extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 1-11 in the process. They lost 6-0 to the Madison Trojans. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

As for Madison, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-2. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.

For Madison's part, the result came thanks to Bryson Ballantyne's shutout, as he gave up just a hit. Ballantyne has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brian Dopp was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Madison is undefeated when Dopp posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Norman Frederick, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

While Blissfield had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
