Softball Recap: Newport Wildcats vs. St. Henry Crusaders
Newport was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They came up short against the St. Henry Crusaders, falling 23-4. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Crusaders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.
Newport's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for St. Henry, their win ended a ten-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newport will square off against Lloyd Memorial at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Juggernauts have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.78 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for St. Henry, they will welcome Notre Dame Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Pandas' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Crusaders' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
