Menchville had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Kellam Knights 57-54. The Monarchs are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 16 straight.

Kellam's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kate Spain, who posted nine points in addition to seven assists and six rebounds. Spain has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Mia Spain was another key player, going 6-for-15 on her way to 15 points along with seven boards and three steals.

Menchville pushed their record up to 25-1 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 55.2 points. As for Kellam, their defeat ended a 16-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 24-3.

Coming up, Menchville will face off against Princess Anne at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Princess Anne knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 25 matchups -- so hopefully Menchville likes a good challenge. Kellam does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
