Softball Game Preview: Eastside Lions vs. Littlerock Lobos

The Eastside Lions will venture away from home to challenge the Littlerock Lobos at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Littlerock took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Eastside, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Eastside turned things around against Palmdale on Tuesday. They blew past the Falcons 14-2. The Lions not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 22nd (when they won 17-5).

Vibiana Schalow was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gaselle Marquez, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jordyn Ynestroza, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Eastside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Littlerock didn't have quite enough to beat Knight on Tuesday and fell 11-9. The Lobos haven't had much luck with the Hawks recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Eastside's record now sits at 11-9-1. As for Littlerock, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.

Eastside took their victory against Littlerock in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 16-2 score. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lobos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
