Softball Recap: Whitney Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Whitney, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Savanna Rebels on Monday.

Amaya Dugal was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-4. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chiugo Anyama, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Olachi Anyama, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Whitney's record now sits at 3-1. As for Savanna, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Whitney Wildcats take on Valencia Tigers at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Whitney is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season. As for Savanna, they will take on University at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
