New Kent waltzed into their contest on Thursday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. They had just enough and edged out the Poquoson Islanders 2-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-0 back in April.

Dylan Bowman looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). Jonah Sorrell relieved him and did a solid job, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, New Kent's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Hochman, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

New Kent's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Poquoson, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-7.

New Kent has already played their next match, a 6-1 win against York on the 30th. As for Poquoson, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 3-2 loss against Lakeland on the 23rd.
