Basketball Game Preview: Carlmont Scots vs. Jefferson Grizzlies

The Carlmont Scots and the Jefferson Grizzlies will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Jefferson will be up against a hot Carlmont team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Carlmont enjoyed a cozy 70-53 victory over Burlingame on Tuesday. Given the Scots' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 209th, while the Panthers are ranked 498th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Jefferson came into Tuesday's match having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They had just enough and edged Hillsdale out 57-54. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Grizzlies have posted since December 27, 2024.

Carlmont has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points per game. As for Jefferson, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-8.

Carlmont came out on top in a nail-biter against Jefferson in their previous matchup two weeks ago, sneaking past 45-42. Will Carlmont repeat their success, or does Jefferson have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
