Taden Svendsen tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
At the plate, Brody McBroom was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Paulson, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Green Mountain ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They walked away with an 8-3 win over Pomona. The victory continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won six in a row.
Demetreus Padilla was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Corbin Wade, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Hudson Burke, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Green Mountain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pomona only posted a batting average of .259.
Golden's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Green Mountain, their record is now 12-7-1.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Golden hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .357. However, it's not like Green Mountain struggles in that department as they've averaged .329. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Golden beat Green Mountain 12-9 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Demons repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
