Preview: Knox City Greyhounds vs. Valley Patriots

The Knox City Greyhounds will head out on the road to face off against the Valley Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Knox City knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight contests -- so hopefully Valley likes a good challenge.

Knox City put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Northside 62-0 on the road. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Knox City just coasted through the last quarter.

Knox City can attribute much of their success to Cameron Hernandez, who gained 73 total yards and two touchdowns, and Bryson Callaway, who threw for 86 yards and three touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. Tristin Baxter also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Valley never let their opponents score on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Spur 53-0 at home. Given Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 39th, while Spur is ranked 143rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Knox City's win was their eighth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Valley, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-4.

Everything came up roses for Knox City against Valley when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 50-18 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Knox City since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
