Baseball Recap: Northgate Comes Up Short

After soaring to 14 runs the game before, Northgate was a bit more limited in their matchup on Saturday. They fell just short of the San Mateo Bearcats by a score of 3-2.

Northgate got a good showing from Max Carlos, who pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Carlos has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Blayne Ballard made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024.

Northgate's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for San Mateo, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-4.

Coming up, Northgate will face off against Campolindo at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for San Mateo, they will be playing at home against Menlo School at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will give San Mateo their first taste of in-conference action this season.
