Softball Recap: Onalaska Now 6-1 over Last Seven Games

Onalaska owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Monday. Everything went their way against the Sparta Spartans as they made off with an 8-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Hilltoppers, who have now won seven games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Sydney Kraus 2028 made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Those stolen bases marked the first that she has snagged this season.

In other batting news, MJ Heit 2028 was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Qita Olson 2025, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Onalaska is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Sparta, they are on a 20-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Onalaska will head out to challenge Tomah at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Hilltoppers 2.4, the Timberwolves 1.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Sparta, they will venture away from home to take on Mauston at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
