Basketball Game Preview: Covenant Classical Warriors vs. Valor Preparatory Academy Owls

The Covenant Classical Warriors will take on the Valor Preparatory Academy Owls at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses apiece.

Covenant Classical is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy last Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Covenant Classical had to suffer through a 76-32 loss at the hands of Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy. The Warriors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-9.

Covenant Classical's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ian Lejeune, who posted eight points, and Thomas Way, who scored eight points and five boards.

Meanwhile, Valor Preparatory Academy came up short against Carolina International on Friday, falling 85-59. While losing is never fun, the Owls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 543rd, while the Comets are ranked 98th).

Valor Preparatory Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Covenant Classical, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.

Covenant Classical took a serious blow against Valor Preparatory Academy in their previous meeting back in January, falling 81-18. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Valor Preparatory Academy's Bishop Witherspoon, who earned 42 points.
