Recap: Orem Tigers vs. Maple Mountain Golden Eagles
The Orem Tigers had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They strolled past Maple Mountain with points to spare, taking the game 68-54. That's two games straight that Orem has won by exactly 14 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Orem to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chance Dastrup, who scored ten points along with nine assists and two steals. Dastrup is on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now racked up eight or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kai Wesley, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Several Golden Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brogan Miles, who scored 14 points. Easton Merrell was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with eight rebounds.
Orem pushed their record up to 8-5 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.5 points per game. As for Maple Mountain, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-7.
Orem's road trip will continue as they head out to face Timpview at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. One thing working in Timpview's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine matchups. As for Maple Mountain, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Springville at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Springville is ranked 38th, while Maple Mountain is ranked 50th).
