Football Recap: Friday's Loss Ends Rio Linda's Winning Streak

Rio Linda dropped down to 3-3 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They received a blow as they fell 32-13 to the Casa Roble Rams. The Knights were red-hot offensively heading into the contest (they scored no less than 31 points in the three matchups prior), but the Rams' defense proved too tough.

Although Rio Linda took the loss, they still got scores from Joseph Kalanui and Louis Means.

As for Casa Roble, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1. Given their advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 201st, while Rio Linda is ranked 622nd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Casa Roble got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaylan Barcenas out in front who rushed for 185 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.7 yards per carry, and also picked up 38 receiving yards and one score. With that strong performance, Barcenas is now averaging an impressive 109.4 rushing yards per game. Aidan Lopez was another key signal caller, throwing for 305 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 78.3% of his passes.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Rio Linda will face off against rival Sutter at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Joseph Corey and Losi Asiata. Meanwhile, Casa Roble is set to challenge their familiar foe Natomas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
