Football Recap: Rio Linda Comes Up Short

After flying high against Natomas two weeks ago, Rio Linda came back down to earth. The Knights took a 32-13 bruising from the Casa Roble Rams on Friday. The Knights have struggled against the Rams recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Although Rio Linda took the loss, they still got scores from Joseph Kalanui and Louis Means.

Casa Roble's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaylan Barcenas, who rushed for 185 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 9.7 yards per carry, and also picked up 38 receiving yards and one score. With that strong performance, Barcenas is now averaging an impressive 109.4 rushing yards per game. Another passer making a difference was Aidan Lopez, who threw for 305 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 78.3% of his passes.

Rio Linda's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Casa Roble, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Rio Linda has already played their next matchup, a 50-0 loss against Sutter on the 10th. As for Casa Roble, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-6 win against Natomas on the 10th.
