Basketball Recap: Wakefield's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Tuesday

On Tuesday, the Wakefield Wolverines were able to grind out a solid win over the Tunstall Trojans, taking the game 59-46. Given the Wolverines' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 129th in North Carolina, while the Trojans are ranked 338th in Virginia), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dylan Goodknecht was nothing short of spectacular: he went 6 of 12 on his way to 18 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Wisler, who posted 11 points.

Wakefield's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Tunstall, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wakefield will square off against Sanderson at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Wakefield is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.6 points per game this season. As for Tunstall, they will venture away from home to challenge Dan River at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
