Football Recap: Reidsville Falls to Northern Guilford in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Reidsville unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 47-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Northern Guilford Nighthawks on Friday. The Rams were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Nighthawks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2016.

Despite the loss, Reidsville saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Braxton Johnson threw for 150 yards and three TDs.

Amare Akers was a one-man wrecking crew For Northern Guilford. as he rushed for 149 yards and four scores while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. Those four rushing touchdowns gave Akers a new career-high. Jaxson Kemp also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Reidsville will face off against George Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Northern Guilford, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against East Forsyth at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
