Baseball Game Preview: McNairy Central Bobcats vs. Madison Mustangs

McNairy Central is a perfect 4-0 against Madison since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Bobcats will be playing at home against the Mustangs at 6:20 p.m. McNairy Central will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

McNairy Central will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Hardin County, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Bobcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over the Tigers on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Bobcats have won by just one run.

Case Rickman made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Case Stone, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Luke King was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

Meanwhile, Madison fell victim to Riverside and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 11-0 to the Panthers. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 19, 2023, but that streak is no more.

McNairy Central's victory bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Madison, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8-1.

Everything went McNairy Central's way against Madison when the teams last played back in May of 2017, as McNairy Central made off with a 13-3 win. Will the Bobcats repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
