For the second straight game, Cascade will face off against Greencastle. The Cadets will take on the Tiger Cubs at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Cascade is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Cascade had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Greencastle put an end to it on Tuesday. The Cadets lost 8-2 to the Tiger Cubs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Cadets have suffered since April 9th.
For Greencastle's part, Nathan Sutherlin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks. Sutherlin has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Sam Gooch and Gavin Tyson did most of the damage at the plate: Gooch went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Tyson went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Gooch has posted since back in June of 2025. Another player making a difference was Trevin Long, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Greencastle kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cascade only managed five.
The victory was the sixth in a row for Greencastle, bringing their record up to 15-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Cascade, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-6.
Both Cascade and Greencastle just can't seem to miss. The Cadets have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.6 hits per game. However, it's not like Greencastle struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.7 hits.
