Basketball Recap: Scott Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Scott can now relate to. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 54-53 to the Roane County Raiders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 57-41 back in December of 2024.

Scott's loss came despite strong showings from Kelsey Harper and Haven Tomblin. Harper went 5-for-8 en route to 19 points, while Tomblin shot 42% from the field to rack up 17 points. The dominant performance also gave Harper a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (57%). Another player making a difference was Taylor Browning, who posted four points and 11 boards.

Anna Tolley was her usual excellent self, going 6-for-9 on her way to 23 points and five steals for Roane County. Tolley has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylin Bowe, who shot 45% from the field en route to 14 points and four steals.

Scott's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-12. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points over those games. As for Roane County, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season.

Scott does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Roane County, they will venture away from home to take on Charleston Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Charleston Catholic is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.5 points per game this season.
