Recap: John Champe Knights vs. Woodgrove Wolverines
The John Champe Knights were the 48-45 winner over the Woodgrove Wolverines when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. John Champe fell 54-47 to Woodgrove on Friday. While losing is never fun, John Champe can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 136th, while Woodgrove is ranked 50th).
Among those leading the charge was Jack Hill, who scored 15 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenny Chicas, who scored nine points.
John Champe's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Woodgrove, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 15-2.
John Champe will be playing in front of their home fans against Rock Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Woodgrove, they will head out on the road to challenge Loudoun County at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Loudoun County and Woodgrove are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
