Baseball Game Preview: Princeton Tigers vs. Evansville Memorial Tigers

Princeton will head out on the road to challenge Evansville Memorial at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Princeton is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.

Princeton gave up the first runs on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 7-3 win over Evansville Christian.

The team relied heavily on Jaron Clutter, who went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Ryne Wilhite, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Meanwhile, Evansville Memorial faced Evansville Mater Dei in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Tigers had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 5-4. The victory was familiar territory for the Tigers, who have now won four contests in a row.

Evansville Memorial's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Princeton, their record now sits at 12-2.

Princeton couldn't quite get it done against Evansville Memorial when the teams last played back in May of 2023 as they fell 4-0. Can Princeton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
