Preview: Thunderbird Adventist Academy vs. Sonoran Science Academy
Thunderbird Adventist Academy will head out on the road to face off against Sonoran Science Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Thunderbird Adventist Academy is coming into the game hot, having won their last nine games.
Last Monday, Thunderbird Adventist Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Ville de Marie Academy, taking the game 43-35.
Meanwhile, Sonoran Science Academy was beaten by Arrowhead Christian Academy 69-14 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Sonoran Science Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while Arrowhead Christian Academy is ranked 115th).
Thunderbird Adventist Academy's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.2 points per game. As for Sonoran Science Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-12.
Everything came up roses for Thunderbird Adventist Academy against Sonoran Science Academy in their previous meeting back in November of 2023 as the squad secured a 54-19 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Thunderbird Adventist Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
