Basketball Game Preview: Blythewood Bengals vs. Ridge View Blazers

Blythewood and Ridge View are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Blythewood Bengals will square off against the Ridge View Blazers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Blythewood will be looking to extend their current 15-game winning streak.

Last Saturday, Blythewood was able to grind out a solid victory over Ridge View, taking the game 59-46. Given the Bengals' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Blazers are ranked 26th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chase Thomas continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double with 29 points and 12 rebounds. Her afternoon made it 21 games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayley Hightower, who posted nine points and three steals.

Blythewood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 21 consecutive matches.

Blythewood pushed their record up to 24-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.8 points over those games. As for Ridge View, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season.
