Baseball Recap: Lakeview Has No Trouble Against White Cloud

Lakeview lost a heartbreaker the last time they played White Cloud, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's game. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 13-3 win on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Wildcats have posted against the Indians since May 14, 2019.

Aydehn Lutzke spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits.

On the hitting side, Lakeview let Landen Johnson and Cameron Perez run wild. Johnson went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Perez scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Perez is becoming a predictor of Lakeview's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Braden Salladay was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Lakeview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as White Cloud only posted an OBP of .385.

Lakeview's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for White Cloud, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Indians beat Lakeview by a score of 11-4 later that day.
