Soccer Game Preview: Brother Martin vs. Holy Cross

The Brother Martin Crusaders are taking a road trip to square off against the Holy Cross Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Brother Martin will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Destrehan on Friday. Brother Martin never let Destrehan onto the board and left with a 4-0 victory. Considering the Crusaders have won 12 matches by more than three goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Holy Cross faced Willow in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. Neither Holy Cross nor Willow could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw. The result kept the Tigers happy, as they haven't lost a game since December 19, 2024.

Brother Martin's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-4-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 26 goals over those five games. Holy Cross' draw gives them a new season record of 15-1-2.

Brother Martin came out on top in a nail-biter against Holy Cross when the teams last played back in January of 2022, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Brother Martin since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
