Soccer Game Preview: Hueytown vs. Pinson Valley

The Hueytown Golden Gophers are taking a road trip to challenge the Pinson Valley Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hueytown will be strutting in after a win while Pinson Valley will be coming in after a defeat.

Hueytown will bounce into Wednesday's matchup after beating Bessemer City, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Golden Gophers' defense stepped up to hand the Tigers a 2-0 shutout on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Hueytown as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Pinson Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 7-1 to Gardendale. While losing is never fun, Pinson Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama soccer rankings (they are ranked 96th, while Gardendale are ranked 35th).

Pinson Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8-1. As for Hueytown, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 3-6.

Hueytown suffered a grim 10-1 defeat to Pinson Valley in their previous matchup back in March of 2021. Can the Golden Gophers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
